From The Mother In-Laws Seat

This photo was taken from the mother in-laws seat in a 1930″s Ditchburn launch on Lake Rosseau in Muskoka. Unfortunately we were not allowed to bring cameras on the  Muskoka Heritage Foundations annual Summer Tour.  I snuck  this low quality shot in from my iPhone as we were being transported across the lake by beautiful vintage boats. The summer tour  was well organized and we had the privilege to learn about 3 very distinct and fascinating summer homes, Grey Rock, Monyca Island and Llanfair.

I shall miss our lake, but we have lakes nearby!

  2. We here in Edmonton, Photographers find hard to go to lakes at the moment because of the many mosquitoes flying around at the moment… But I normally wouldn’t mind it.. I love the lake, it’s very peaceful & sometimes I could do a lot of thinking there…

    Nice picture!!!

  3. Which was your favourite one to visit Ed? Also, did you ride in the same boat to all three or did they rotate boats as well.

All of the cottages were unique in their own way. The more modern Llanfair was designed and built in the 1960’s. There were walls of glass integrated with the trees and natural surroundings. They were green before there was green.

There were many old Muskoka boats that would taxi you back and forth to these island places. As you exited one property you could choose which boat to board. It was very well organized.
