The Peerless II

Ahoy Captain Randy Potts.! I was out on Lake Rosseau recently and crossed paths with the Peerless II boat. Always a pleasure to see her on the beautiful Muskoka waters.  The Peerless II ship was built in 1946 in Bronte, Ontario and operated for over 50 years as a gas and oil delivery vessel on the Musk0ka Lakes.  Captain Randy purchased the boat in 2003 restoring it and turning it into a popular tourist experience that leaves from the locks in Port Carling.  I highly recommend this intimate tour with interesting  historical commentary by Captain Randy. They do a tour of Millionaires Row on Lake Muskoka, Lake Rosseau and private tours for weddings or other social occasions.

  1. Now, Ed, are you living up there in Muskoka? I loved winters.

Hi Jenn – I am only in Muskoka part time for the 3 seasons. I spend the winter months away 🙂

Hello Ed, I was born in Bracebridge in 1949. My parents built a cottage at Beaumauris, on LAke Muskoka. I remember as a very young child the gas boat delivering gas to our dock. It was a very exciting experience watching the boat arrive. Wanted to share that memory …I believe the boat in this photo may be the one that delivered gas for my fathers boats. He was a boat builder in Bracebridge after WW 2, I just decided to type in an inquiry about this boat and found your photos. Thanks for posting.

    Hello Dawn,
The Peerless II has been repurposed into a tour boat that travels the lake. I highly recommend you visit and take one of Captain Randy’s informative and scenic tours right from Port Carling.
