Trippin up Joe by Jetski

The scenes from a Jetski motif – As the sun was beginning to drop I took a quick voyage up the Joseph River and into Lake Joseph on a Jetski. Although a little tricky, I like to try and shoot from my jetski as you can get into areas that you can’t by boat. I found this quiet bay on Lake Joe that had an old log cabin buried amongst the trees. (pic coming later) I tried to imagine what it was like to stay at this cabin and to look out at this unobstructed view to the west. As the real estate agents like to say “beautiful vistas”

Scenes from a Jetski on Lake Joseph in Muskoka

Its a beautiful time to be on the Muskoka Lakes. They say that boat traffic is down because everyone prefers to golf. Not so sure about that. And others say its the price of gas. This photo was taken from a Jetski while exploring the many islands on Lake Joseph. Its a breathtaking experience that I can’t get enough of.

Back in the Saddle

Finally! – some warmer weather to get out and do some boating. Even on the Victoria Day long weekend there was hardly a boat on the lakes. Only the odd marina service boat was out scuttling about. I’ve been out on my Seadoo a few times and took this photo the other day at sundown while exploring the middle of Lake Joe. iPhone photography.

Dark Clouds Rolling

Whoever is in charge of sunsets this season has done a remarkable job. On this particular night it appeared that we were going to get some well needed rain. I took off on my trusty Jetski and found these ominous clouds on Lake Joseph near Fairy Island.

By the way – I just started using Instagram and I’m finding it useful and fun to post photos on the go. You can follow me here and I will follow you back.

Chasing Sunsets Up Joe

About an hour before sundown I like to jump on my Jetski race out and chase the sunset. I took this photo about mid-way up Lake Joseph where there are beautiful unobstructed views.

Lake Rosseau Boathouse du Jour

A beautiful day for a jetski cruise. I don’t recall exactly where I was when I took this. Somewhere near Tobin Island and the Venetian Group of Islands on Lake Rosseau.

Sunset Joe

The sun had already dropped as I was making a hurried journey back to the cottage via jetski. I turned around for another look and noticed a warm summery blush on the horizon. This is Lake Joseph with Home Island in the middle. Please click on the image for a biggie shot.

Chasing Sunsets

I love to get out on my Jetski and explore the lakes. Sometimes I get caught quite far from home base and need to scurry back before the darkness sets in.

Pride, Prejudice and the Turning Leaves

I just returned back to Muskoka from Euro-land and was happy to see a feast of fall colors still hanging on however it is an unfortunate marker that its time to pull the boats out. So I jetted across the lake today to a local marina that I have been doing business with for many years to take my two jetski’s out. I walked into the office to pay the fee, greeting the people with a frozen smile but I sensed something was wrong. I was promptly told by Mr. big attitude man, “you can’t remove your boats here, we don’t allow that anymore”  Well I have been using this marina for 6 or 7 years, buying gas, using storage, launching boats – removing them, getting service, recommending them, etc. I pleaded my case which they couldn’t care less to hear so I left. I then instructed my friend waiting in the parking lot with the truck and trailer that we are out of luck.

What to do? I remembered seeing the old Wallace Marine had started up again when I visited Abbeys awesome bakery this summer. A quick call and I was greeted by a guy named Dave who remarked, “come on over“. Upon arrival the people were just fantastic and out of frustration I explained the story of what just happened. They acknowledged they have heard the story a few times before. I love it when people and companies understand that its all about the customer. When customers have bad experiences they usually tell on average about 10 people however for these guys I thought I would tell a few more.  Thanks Pride Marine for turning me away and forcing me to discover the awesome Summer Water Sports who get it.

Joe Islands

On occasion, I manage to perform a Cirque du Soleil balancing act by maneuvering my Jetski and taking photos at the same time. Driving towards the north end of Lake Joseph you will find  scores of fabulous islands reminiscent of  Group of Seven paintings.

Look at the stars, see how they shine for you

Its getting a little cooler umm colder on the water now especially when riding the Jetski however I’m going to stick with it a while longer yet. Yes, I’m crazy and my toes are ice cubes – thanks. Just before sundown I noticed this cool boathouse with its own built in observatory. Bottom of Lake Rosseau near Port Sandfield. Please click the image for a galaxy sized photo

Navigating Through the Islands on Lake Rosseau Muskoka

One of my past times is to cruise around the different islands on the Muskoka Lakes by Jetski. I can get into places where you simply can’t by boat. No, I guess I am not that “green” even though I bought a kayak I have only been in it 2 times so far. My intentions were good but certainly not the best vessel to carry photographic equipment in. This island boathouse is on Lake Rosseau not far from the Muskoka Lakes Golf Club.
