On the Road to Big Chute
While driving back from the cottage last week I was trying to explain the marine railway system at Big Chute to some guests. If you haven’t checked it out I highly recommend you stop by. Especially if you are one of those curious techno-geeks like me and besides who wouldn’t want to travel to a cool place called Big Chute? I got a little sidetracked with some roadside distractions along the way but we were lucky enough to see the giant apparatus in operation. Oh and looks like awesome weather for a happy Canadian Thanksgiving!
That shore is a purty shore, Mr. Ed. Like so many of your photos, worthy of framing and framing big — almost as big as Big Chute! It’s a great place to visit, by the way. I’m sure your guests loved it. Happy Thanksgiving!
My family has had our cottage near Big Chute since 1966. We’ve gone over the old railway and new railway a bazillion times, and never tire of taking guests there. It’s really nice to see you mention it and to have ventured there last weekend.
I enjoy bringing guests to the marine railway. Its not something you will see anywhere else. Someday I may get a chance to go on it.
Ed – per one of your links, if you hike into the woods you can find old walls built for abandoned dams and lock construction. We’ve hiked in a few times, and it’s a sight to behold. Tall concrete walls rising out of the bush and swamp seemingly for no reason.
Ed : your photos are so inspiring for a rookie photographer like myself , and as a fellow Muskokan I am looking forward to seeing more of your work. hopefully one day we can go out together up north and shoot some more of our Beautiful Muskoka together. sincerely; Rod
