The Chapel of Baked Goods
During the Muskoka summers I often visit Abbey’s Bake House to worship the most awesome bacon maple infused butter-tarts known to mankind. Abbey’s is a 19th century church brought in from Digby, Nova Scotia and repurposed as a seasonal bake house. I was walking across the ice on Lake Rosseau near Clevelands House recently when I dropped by for a pic.

Eating a finely made butter tart is a religious experience. No wonder they’re sold in a church!

I know that everyone in Canada is pretty sick of the snow and cold, while we have been languishing on the golf course in Florida, however this picture reminds me of all the wonderful winters we had in Muskoka, enjoying exploration by snowmobile. We came across a lot of beautiful sights around the lakes, and enjoyed a crackling fire after being out in the snow all day. When it is cold and the snow is deep and white, it is a pretty magical place.
The Abbey bacon butter tarts are divine!!
